Yet another beep code.. .and other questions

First of all, I searched three times... I have some answers but not all.

This is for an 87 n/a with k&n intake, superflo exhaust and RP catback, newly installed.

First of all, what is a single beep every second mean?

RETed mentioned oil pressure should be 30psi @idle and 60psi at 3K RPM. Mine is reading 15psi @ warm idle and about 50-55 at 3K RPM.

This reading has been going on for the last few months. Engine runs normal, and seems to use the right amout of oil for the miles I put on it.

I've checked around the engine and can see no leaks anywhere.

I've cleaned the oil pressure sending unit connector. Didn't help.

I've got Castrol GTX 10-40 regular in the motor (before I read that 10-40 is not a good thing for these cars. So I think that's getting switched out today for 20-50.

I'm seriously thinking about running premix for the added protection until I get this figured out. Anyway, does anyone have a site where I can get the beep codes and their definitions? I didn't see it in the factory service manual.

Thanks for any and all advice..

- Jim

15 PSI is within spec for the oil as the min. spec is 14PSI. Have you verified with a mechanical gauge? The stock gauge could be wrong.

Don't know about the beep though...

4) 1-beep, pause, repeat. In case abnormality occurs to speed sensor signal.
In case broken wires or short circuits occur to sensors or harnesses, the
buzzer sounds 60-seconds after the engine speed signal of 2200 rpm continues
for 18-seconds.

I haven't done the mech. gauge yet. I also pulled the connector to the OPG off and cleaned the livin' **** out of it AGAIN (damn thing's hard to get to). Now it's up to 30psi.

That along with everything else I've read about these gauges being faulty, I think I'm gonna take it somewhere and have it checked, then work on putting a secondary sensor and gauge on.

I am relieved to know 15 is within tolerance. Popping my motor is NOT an option since this is my daily driver, so thank you for the info.

It's wierd, sometimes it's good, sometimes it scares the livin' hell outta me.

No buzzing.. just a "beep....beep... beep.... beep..." etc..

I was holding the throttle at 3K RPM watching the oil pressure gauge when it started. Sounds like that's the explaination.
