Yes another 6th port question...

I got them unclogged and they slide in and out real nice
but they are not working. I used a penny and it was still there when I got back - I had it redlined in 3rd & 4th.

I took one off and put it back on with a new gasket still doesnt work.

If I blow in the hole real hard it starts to move so I think it works its just not getting enough air.

Any suggestions?

You used a penny?

It is entirely possible that one of the tubes is clogged, or there is a crack in the hose.

If its a more or less stock exaust, do like Six Rotors suggests and jus rev the bejesus out of the engine in the driveway while looking at the actuators. They should move. Or take a piece of vac hose, and instead of blowing into the feed pipe, suck on the hose and see if the system will hold a vacuum. If it does not hold a vacuum, then its leaking at the gaskets. A Mittyvac, available at most GOOD auto stores, would be a great tool to have to check the viability of the gaskets. They run b/t 20 and 25 bucks. CAn be used for other tests on your car and future cars.

Mine open too but I don' think are opening soon enough. Mine are opening at 6 grand with no load. I got no clue obviously under load. Would it make a difference under load even though I can see that they open at 6. When are they supposed to open?

the penny trick

ok here is a somewhat crappy pic of the penny trick if I had a polaroid camera I would just take a pic of it.
the penny sits between the cam and the shaft that goes down. it sits tight. when the cam moves the penny falls well when I got back the penny was still there so I know they are not working.

Connect them to the air pump. Instructions can be found by searching.

Tie em open with a zip tie or something.... and redline it- see if you feel a difference.

And ya- if you have no cat, and your car is pre 89, theres a good chance you arent developing enough backpressure to open the ports.
What you could try is blocking off the exhauts pipes with a peice of tin or something, and going for a VERY quick spin, (before the bloking stuff melts/blows off) and seeing if your 6ports moved. Then you know it's lack of back pressure.
It's better off to hook them up to your air pump anyways.

Just a thought.
