Ok, here's the steps to fix a stupid irritating exhaust leak:

1.) clean off all the RTV previous owner slathered on joints.

2.) buy actual Mazda gaskets (tried NAPA gaskets, blew apart before I hit the end of the driveway).

3.) pull your cat off and check for cloggage.

4.) don't worry about destroying or cutting of hardware, because you're gonna wanna replace it with stainless steel or grade 8 anyways.

5.) keep everything loose while you're putting it back together and only torque stuff down when everything is aligned properly.

6.) don't torque too much, or you'll crunch the gasket.

That's about all the stuff I did, and it makes one hell of a difference. Of course, it's not much quieter then when I started, but doesn't smell anymore (except when my injector is acting up, and that's coming from the rear anyways), and I can't feel any air flowing at any of the joints, so I'm assuming it's all patched up.

Wanna hear kinda what a FC sounds like with the exhaust pulled at the main cat?

You'd have to be there to appreciate the true volume. Yikes. I wish I could find an exhaust that sounds like that but at a more reasonable volume.
