ya'll are going to kill me (please don't ban me) disabling alarm

Just took out the glove box and I am looking at one big connector and two smaller ones. Wich one are you supposed to remove??? Thanks. It's kind of imbarrasing when you go to the grossery store and you have to lift your hood and remove the battery cable to disable the alarm "I promise I'm not stilling this car", lol. Anyways it's just not working correctly, if I leave the door unlocked the alarm goes off, if I lock it from the outside the alarm still goes off. Anyways thanks for the help in advance and sorry about bringing this already dead horse back to life.

On The 88 it is a silver/nickle box just below the glove box. The connector hooks up between the blower and condensor, and has about 16 or so small wires in it.

if you disconnect the plug for the idiot lights and clock on your dash, it fixes this. i havent figured out why or how yet, but it works. You will just have to deal with no clock or warning lights until you get it fixed.

The clock/idiot lights have nothing to do with the factory security system. You have perhaps confused what you did.

well I think you know, that I believe you should fix the problem rather than ripping stuff out... but to each their own

I wouldn't even know where to start on that issue. Plus I'm thinking of getting another aftermarket one. This car is strictly my weekend car so all I will do is drive it around, maybe even once it is stable enough, go to lafayette witch is about an hour away and cruise some twisties with the local miata club. In other words I don't leave it alone, and it is always garage kept.

What wire is it on the S5? I've heard you're supposed to ground a green/white wire or something. Is this true?

Wouldn't the idiot lights/clock have the same power as the security system? I know when my car couldn't hold the charge to keep the memory in the clock saved the security system also wasn't working, then when I got power back to it the security system started working.

Yes, but that is the only common connection (of course the dome lights, and other things would be out then as well). Just unplugging the idiot lights as mentioned by Dokta would be completely useless, unless (by a pretty weird chance) maybe he blew the fuse at the same time.

when i bought my car, the idiot lights and clock were unplugged. the guy i bought it from told me that it was because of the factory alarm, and unplugging it made it better. after reading icemarks post, i grabbed a screwdriver and ran down to my car. i was afraid there was a check engine light that the last owner didnt want me to see. i plugged it in, and everything was fine, the car started up, all the lights seem to work, and the alarm is definately not going off. sorry to have posted misinformation. i should have checked this last month when i bought the car.
