my stock muffler has the back end being blown off of it

I kid you not it looks like someone took it at put some sort of bomb in there almost and all the bACKING of it is blow out from the inside


but I'm curious why is there two pipes in that muffler?

is the second pipe just to help take some of the exhuast and sound into a dead chamber to help quite it?

or what?


and does anybody have any pictures of a stock muffler torn apart?

 

The duel pipes I think are cheaper for the manufacturer to produce(not sure). I've never understood it, I've worked on cars where the internal one has colapased and coused a horrible clog. Faulty design. Morons!
