WTF... is my car possessed?

Well.. check this out.. i get home around 9:00 and park in the garage as usual.. i use my kill switch to kill the car as usual.. so i walk inside and see my mom left me food on the table.. so i begin to eat.. 10 mins into eating.. i hear my car cranking.. and cranking and cranking... So immediatly i think someone is trying to jack my car since they dont know about the kill switch... but then its goin on for a while.. like 3-4 mins.. so iam like wtf.. so i fling open the garage door with gun in hand... to find that my car is just cranking on its own... no clue as to wtf is going on... so i pull off the Negative battery cable...ok... so i put it back on.. still cranking like crazy... so i pull it off agian... ok.. so i guess i will start it to see if it stops... i put the terminal back on.. jump in the car and start it.. but the starter is still whirring!!!...

wtf is going on? can it just do something like this?

maybe something shorted out?

iam in south cali and its been raining for past 3 days now... so maybe?

anyway i can stop it from whirring?

i need my car by 2morrow morning to get to work..

Where do you have the switch hooked up to? Check your switch it might be fried.

my switch is hooked up the the fuel relay. so it has nothing to do with the starter.. all it does is cut the fuel to the engine.. thats why when i first heard it i thought someone was jacking my ***.. so i got out the gun and went after them.... but i dunno.. any other ideas?

Did you check to see if the ignition wiring is ok under the dash? Take apart the steering column and look at your ignition harness from the ign. lock key to see if anything is being jump.

sounds like the car is trying to escape.....just let it crank and start then follow it to wherever it goes, maybe it'll pick up a hot chick or two and then you can hang out. Or maybe it's like herbie the love rx-7 and has a thing for the Mk III supra down the road.

Try testing the continuity of the ign switch with a multimeter. Have a look at section 15, page 9 of the FSM, it shows you how to test it.

Check the wires at the starter too. May be a short causing the solenoid to get power.

Your profile says you have an 89..all Rx-7s 87 and up had a clutch switch, which prevented the engine from being cranked without the clutch pedal being depressed. Have you done any wiring work to the car in the past that would have messed with the clutch safety switch?
