WTF is going on with removin the starter ?

Am I going nuts or do I have to freaking remove the entire block to get it off?

There was what I thought to be two bolts on it.

However I found the following

1. Bolt on the bottom - came out with out a hitch
2. Nut or Bolt on the top ... im unable to tell ... but from trying to get it off for about an hour .. it seems like its a nut (thats twisting the bolt around as its turned)

Why would there be a bolt on one side and a nut on another? Also what do you guys suggest to do to take this off ... i dont mind dremling it off (its on my parts car and im putting it on my good car) ... but would much rather just getting that ****** off lol

ratchet on one side and a wrench on the other? doesn't seem all that difficult of a concept.

yep, rachet on the tranny side and a wrench on the engine side.
It has a long bolt with a nut at the end because there is no threads to tighten the bolt into, so you need a nut.

Use a combination of socket wrenches, regular wrenches, and maybe even pliers if neccesary. Just experiment until you figure out a way to do it.

on my GTU I used the closed end of a wrench to hold the nut on the top starter bolt, and then pulled the bolt out with an impact gun.

I used a closed end wrench and a socket wrench (extension could be helpful), but I don't remember where exactly I used them.

i dunno, i guess if you are used to pulling leading plugs out of FDs all day long you get used to confined spaces, getting a wrench on the head of the starter bolt/nut is no problem.

go to autozone and you can get 14 mm wrench with a pretty long handle (longer than what's in a typical wrench set) and a lifetime warranty for under $10. It's useful for all those type of bolts under the car.
