Angry Wtf! 1100lbs?

so i am having a turbo II motor shipped through OLD DOMINION. and the guy who is shipping it told me that the quote they gave him was $781 from texas to california. i almost **** my pants when i heard this so i called up the place and asked them how it could be so much. they told me that my turbo motor with nothing on it but the manifolds and the flywheels weighs 1100lbs!! is that even ******* possible for a turbo motor to be that much.

she is an idiot. I think my TII shortblock tipped the scales at like 185lbs or so. **** I moved an entire 12a longblock by hand. It wasn't fun, but i did it.

Just checked the weight on some V8's. 400-550 lbs. I think some old big cast iron V8's weighed 800 lbs. She's an idiot.

If the engine comes with a tranny that might tack on another 50 lbs.-ish.

It should be under 400 pounds complete and on a heavy duty pallet.

I shipped a 13b-rew, complete with the heavy as **** twin turbo's and it was under 400 pounds.

I have used Old Dominion. They have scales at their terminals. If the shipper takes it to the terminal, they will weigh it. I shipped a 13B on a pallet and crated. It weighed 240#. This was a complete long block with flywheel and clutch.

The only way i could see this happening is if that TII motor is still attached to a full front clip. Then it would be about right.

I'm a freakin skinny guy, and I moved an n/a engine on my own, with great difficulty.... my dad and I lifted it on a slab of wood together, NO problem! It can't weigh more than a couple hundred pounds.

its not a front clip it is just the block, mani's, turbo and flywheel. i called the manager and told him fire that bitch for so dumb. he said i can bring it back in and re-weigh it. i just cant believe she actually tried to say it weighed that much. it is on its way to the place now to get the real weight. i called the Texas department of agriculture and let them know what happened and they are sending someone down there to inspect and calibrate all there scales.

after i told them that someone was coming down to inspect their scales the weight of the motor somehow went from 1100 to 385 with the crate and everything. damn rednecks trying to dick me around. but at least it is on its way and a build up thread will follow shortly.
