Wrong injectors, FRIED ECU?????

Well, now I did it! I was working on my '88 vert and decided to swap the entire upper intake assembly (including secondary injectors) with a spare one I had from an '86. Once reassembled, it started for about 1 sec. and then cut-out. I have not been able to start since. I believe it is not getting fuel.

Then I checked resistance on the fuel injectors on the '88. The both read 13 ohm. I was surprised because my '87/86 ones have always been between 2 and 3 ohms. So, does anyone know for sure if I toasted my ECU with the low resistance injectors from the '86. That would be my guess, but I was wondering if there is any other protection that would have blown and saved my ECU.

Oh yeah, one last thing; does anyone know if the ECU from an '87 and an '88 are the same? I have a spare '87 ECU that I could use if they are the same. Any help would be appreciated!!!!

Sounds like you fried it. You need to match the injectors to the harness.

Did you try putting your old injectors back in and trying again? You may still be in luck, because the resistors would only add more resistance, not less.

You can swap ECU'S. No problem. Might not be fried. I think it takes a while to knock out the ECU. Don't know for sure, but think it might be another thing.

You might have popped a fuse during the reconstruction. Check the ENGINE fuse in the crew compartment. Also check and see if the injectors have 12v on one of the injector sockets/plug.

Did you cross the fuel lines?

I ran low imp 720s with my 88 TII (that requires high imp) for week with out installing resistors, and my ECU is fine..

How in the world did you get your fuel injector clips on there? Highly doubtful that you fried your ECU

Thanks for the getting back to me guys! Got her running now. ECU was fine. I had a bad ground on the engine harness.
