Unhappy wrecked tII need help

I'm pretty new to rx-7's and cars.

How hard would it be to rip the engine out of a 87 tII and put it in an 87 GXL or a 90 GXL? My engine and tranny are still in good shape. Unfortunately I wrecked my tII and I am pretty sure they are going to total the car. Any information would help. thanks

You'll want the complete engine, hood, wiring harness, transmission, driveshaft, ECU, diff and rear end. You may want the instrument cluster too, or add a boost gauge.

Oh geez, there is no reason to go through all that work. You can find an 87-88 TII with a blown engine for about $500, install your good engine in one weekend, and you are done! Work smarter, not harder.

You wouldn't happen to live in Hamilton and have Dave Burchfield as a teacher would you?

Anyways, if you do decide to transplant the engine, stick with 86-88 RX-7s as 89-91 are quite different and it would be a bitch to get everything running right.
