as for the weight of the carbon hood, i would think there could be a small amount to save if any at all. i have only had my fc for a few years but i have yet to see a company that makes a true full carbon hood. they are all frp.

i have been around supra's for over 10 years and have read a lot on this subject.
the seibon hoods (frp or carbon look) are only 3 pounds lighter than the stock hood
the top secret carbon hood ( 100% carbon with no structure) is just 9 pounds lighter than stock
also the seibon "carbon" fenders are only 1 pound lighter than stock

so until someone weighs there stock alum hood and a carbon hood, your guess is as good as mine

I think AWR used to make a CF race hood for the FC RX-7 that was 7lbs or so.

Just a skin, no provisions for pop up lights/hinge/mounting/fitment.

I have to essentially slam my CF hood for the stock latch to grab because it's so much lighter than my original stock Vert Aluminum hood.

Probably just need to align the latch.

The 4lbs or so difference over the whole area of the hood between the two should not cause what you are describing.

i thought the difference would be minimal as well (i've never had a CF FC hood to compare but have lifted CF hoods of similar size) as well as the body on my FC is so rough its not worth spending the money on a CF hood ATM, id rather just get more air out of the engine bay...

Aside from perhaps your disturbing comment about your Mom riding a whale (certainly trumps any Tijuana stories),
Yeah, it's a disurbing image... Wait till you see her!

you couldn't be more wrong.
Hmmm...

As I commented in the post above yours, I have to essentially slam my CF hood for the stock latch to grab because it's so much lighter than my original stock Vert Aluminum hood.
I'll weigh my unmodified stock alloy hood, if you weigh yours. Let's get this settled, 'cause it's an interesting discussion.

Also: What company/engineer produced your hood?

Riz.

Hate to break it to ya Smiley, but threads like this are against club rules.
