Would there be any intrest in cheaper intake gaskets?
I recently posted my car was running like crap... I had to remove the upper and middle intake manifolds... When replacing them I did not buy new gaskets... I just used gasket sealer... My car ran great for a while then like crap later... I think the gasket sealer just was not holding up and it was causing an intake leak... With that being said....
I was pricing gaskets... I am looking at about $90+ for all three... I decided to look around for gasket material to make my own... I have found sheets of 1/16" thick x 30" wide x 20' long... It is was pretty expensive to say the least...
So... I am wondering if there would be any interest in silicone gasket sets for the intake manifold if I where to buy this stuff and make several sets...? Keep in mind this gasket will probably not work between the lim and engine... I am not even going to try it for fear that I will have an even bigger mess to clean up than I already do... I am thinking along the lines of $20 - $30 for the 2 gaskets...
If you are a pro in this area and this is a bad idea, let me know by all means... This stuff is rated at 500 - 520 degrees and has a moderate rating for gas and oil...
Feel free to make suggestions or comments whether constructive or rude and nasty...
Thank you,
Randal C.

I have used silicone sealant for years on everything but exhaust & turbo stuff.
UIM, LIM, TB, oil sump, front cover, water pump, blockoffs, etc.
The trick is checking the mating surfaces for exact flatness before assembly.
Then just follow the directions. (Let it set a few minutes before assembly)

These look like a good alternative to gaskets, are reusable, and inexpensive as well.
