Bad news:HP difference - hardly measureable, & without it the cat will probably clog up.

Good news: However if you can loose the cat, your turbo will perform better and you will no longer need the air pump. (Unclutters the engine bay.)

Bad news: With only one belt on the fan - it will slip.

Good news: You can get a double alternator pully & run two belts to drive the fan

yeah, it would slightly. The only performance gain you would see if from it not running the pully. Take that, and IC off then remove the actual pullys accordingly. You're looking at quite a bit of reduced rotating mass = hp. not much, but some.

it will a little bit because you arent running the pully and its a little less weight.

Its mainly done to clean up room in the engine bay, not necessarily for performance purposes.

1) Your car will most likely not pass emissions testing.
2) Your engine will make a loud popping noise (sounds like backfiring) when you decelerate with the transmission in gear.

I think most people remove the pump when it goes bad rather than spend the big bucks on a new one.

It's the new thing, kinda like decreasing the under-hood temperature which, er, does something or another, but I know you need a carbon fiber hood because it doesn't get as hot as the steel or aluminum hood that conducts heat unlike the thermal insulator properties of carbon fiber, er, wait a minute...

OK, forget that.

Hey, I know, you could make the air pump into an air pump supercharger, and install it in the extra room! [Evil runs and hides before he is hit by massive amounts of spoiled fruit]

I removed my air pump for the extra room in the engine bay. I put the extra space to good use by smuggling my mexican midget friend across the border. Good times.
