Would New Fuel Pump Make Me Run Rich?

Would getting a Walbro 255 installed before I did most of my modification make me run too rich? All I have now is intake, boost gauge, and FCD, and a bunch of other crap that doesn't have to do with performance or monitoring it. Anyways, I plan on getting a downpipe and either going for some sort of straight through setup, or getting a high flow cat. I was just wondering if getting the Walbro before doing this would make it run too rich or anything.

I dont think it would, unless it increased the pressure.. .then again I could be wrong. The reason I say this is because if the injectos only open for certian periods of time an increase in pressure would force more fuel out. If It just increased the flow I would not think it would. Someoen correct me if im wrong on this.

I am almost positive the answer is yes. You can always just do a rewire for now and upgrade the pump later.

Reason i'm asking is because everyone was telling me go for the Walbro 255 as a safety mod before doing anything else, but I didn't want to put it in ahead of time and all and have it make me run rich. If I installed it at the time I put my exhaust mods in, would I be fine?

Well you would run alittle richer I suppose. Not so much that it would do any harm. What mods do you have now?

Says "up to 90 psi". Also, my mods so far are only an A'pexi intake, but i'm going to get a DP and either go for straight through exhaust with presilencer or high flow cat. Possibly ported wastegate of necessary.

Port your wastegate whenever you have a chance. Right now I have a corksport 3inch downpipe to a bonez high flow cat and stock catback with stock intake. On a 4th gear WOT pull I creep to .7 bar= about 11 psi. I think it would have climbed higher if I kept my foot full throttle but I left off once boost built up.

No, the pump doesn't make you run rich but it can make you run lean. Your injectors and cycle on them is what determines how rich or lean it runs. The pump is just how much it CAN flow when needed or CANNOT flow (ie leaning out). I'd rather run rich anyway though but the answer is no, just a fuel pump won't make it run rich. I'd recommend that as one of the first upgrades you do though. Especially if you have a better flowing intake and exhaust.

You're confused. The Walboro will make the car run rich because it will overwhelm the stock pressure regulator, thus increasing ruel rail pressure.

would you need a new FPR if you wanted to install a higher flow pump or can you just run it on the stock fpr?

It will make the car run "significantly" richer.

You could run an aftermarket FPR, or an S-AFC (I prefer the latter, or a combination of the two).

Ahhhh I C. I didn't take into account the stock regulator couldn't handle an increase in pressure to it. Good to know!

Hmm...so if all I was getting was some sort of downpipe/high flow cat, or just straight through w/presilencer and such, would I really need an upgraded pump? Like EVERYONE was saying upgrade the pump, but nobody mentioned any of this other crap. What about installing an FD pump?
