Would like to take off UIM
I am planning a project this weekend. I would like to remove the remaining portion of emissions that run under the UIM, and maybe do a little cleaning/polishing of the manifold it self.. my question is
If i remove the intake manifold, IS IT A MUST that i replace the manifold gasket? I know they are cheap, and that's not what i'm worried about. Also, about the EGR valve, isnt a block off plate availiable? Is the EGR needed once most other emissions have been removed?
thanks guys

There are plate available. I wouldn't buy one though. I have a dremel for that. If you need help I can give you pointers.

Oh that's right, mazdatrix sells a block off plate for the EGR, hurrm, i'm sure i could fab something up.. Hey Santiago, do you have ported manifolds? I was reading another thread on the 2nd gen forum about intake porting, and i figure since i have the manifolds off i "could" port them what do you think man?
