hi, i know the brakes on the fc are good, especailly the 4 pot brakes like mine, but eventually i would love to upgrade, cause i think braking is just as important as speed. anyways there are these project mu brake kits for the FD that are awesome, but was wondering if they could fit the FC?

 

I'm pretty sure they won't fit, but I'd like to hear another answer. but why not just get a kit made for the FC?

I did have read about an FD guy putting T2 calipers on his car so im sure it can be done the other way around.

 

are the FD calipers much different the the FC 4-pistons?

 

they're 4-pots too aren't they? if you're going to spend tons of money on brakes like the project mu's, why not go for a kit by re-a or another manufacturer that are made for the car?

The brake pads are the same size for the FC's and FD's. The calipers would be directly interchangeable except that Mazda made a casting change on the FD's. The FC calipers will bolt up to an FD but not the other way around. You have to see it to understand why. The biggest difference is that the FD rotors are larger. You can just physically install the FD rotors onto the FC. They fit. You just need to make an adapter to space the calipers out that extra inch or so. It would be very wise to also install a new adjustable proportioning valve at the same time. If you really want to have fun, adapt the brake booster from the FD or one from a 929 onto the car.

i wanted to go with the 6 pot brake system, and i deffinately want a 2 piece brake rotor. hmm but i didnt know endless makes a brake kit for the FC, i guess i will look around more.

but basically yes it is possible but not really worth it, it would be easier to just get one thats made for the fc, right?

OC, yes that looks cool, but it seems that would decrease the area that the pad can contact the rotor. looks like kind of a waste.

 

personally i think that rotor looks weird, hah and i doubt it would work good. OooOO F40 or F50 kits would be a dream, they are so big. and i know they gotta be so expensive. would i also need to get special adapters for the ferrari and porche brakes? i would assume so. thanks for you help guys.

 

That has to be the most rediculous rotor I've ever seen! What is the measure of the actual braking surface on it?

 

They use rotors kinda like that on motorcycles, they work very well.

haha oops. this was the only good shot of an FC i had. i need to find more anyways.

the ferrari rotors have got to have a good brakin surface. minus all the cross drilling, but id rather have those than it be a flat disc, goin about 200 mph and braking would just glaze up those pads
