Seems awful cheap. Pics? Do we get to pick what color we want? Yeah for $80 i'll throw down as long as it's up to my standards hehe.

You should've made one and tested it first before asking if anyone else wants one. So far you have nothing to convince anyone you can even do this for yourself, let alone reproduce and sell them. The forum is full of "gauging interest" threads that go nowhere.

I'd be down, though. I need a new intake. Better hurry, I'm gonna make a new one soon...

response for everyone

my friend owns an exaust shop i dont have a dyno anywhere in the state i guess we could paint it but it would be more of a style where you have a ram intake style tube mounted into the front bumper and bent to fit then the air filter would basically fit into a box that would screw down to aid in keeping the air temp colder while protecting the filter it would be all the piping and box and you could put any open element airfilter in it

And also learn to type better, people feel better when it seems like they are buying a product from a professional.

Just a business tip dude .

One "negative beauty points" warning, on the non-turbos metal intake piping ends up looking very cheezy the majority of the time. If you notice on most Turbo IIs, you'll see the sexy intercooling piping but no intake piping.

The best NA piping I've seen kept the same diameter and bends as the stock rubber piping, and had no weld marks.

Yeah i'm kind of turned off to the idea already. So basically what your idea is is to take what Mazda already had for stock but do it with metal instead?

I want something that relocates the intake to get COLD air not air from the engine bay. If you made something that stuck the filter down low or something I would be interested. Short ram, ram air, and all those kinds of intakes are generic and a dime a dozen. It doesn't take much to build one and i'm not interested in buying one either. Make me a REAL cold air intake which would be a unique product and then you might get my money.

Most people aren't interested in relocating the cone filter, they just build a cold air box that replaces the air filter and seals the intake from hot engine bay air. Then they channel cold air into the airbox by 1) stock piping (most people remove this to cleanup the engine bay) 2) stamped healight intake duct (some headlight cover bracket mods needed) 3) remove FTPs (not my preference).

You could adapt that cheezy "FMIC style" intake filter or move the cone air filter into the corner of the nose, but both come off a bit cheezy looking.

If I was doing it, I'd use a cold airbox and then adapt a front & centered "ram air style" hoodscoop (or top of the bumper scoop) and work the piping into the hood so you don't see see any cheezy piping and a sweet looking cold airbox.

ok well what if you wouldn't have to move the cone air filter have a box cut a hole in the fender and have a ramair duct next to the brake vent?

this topic has been ponderd and brainstormed on soo much.. there are lots of great ideas that are functional...just use the hole where the washer fluid filler is under the filter. cut the hole a little bit lrger use 1 mandrel bend and mount the filter on the other side of the whole. Boom cold air intake.. (look at a HONDA) cai's ad 50hp on civics thats why every honda dick head has one.... (major sarcazm) but seriously, its almost exactly the same spot, and works very well actually. makes a very nice sound too

Fender flares that double as intakes might look good. I also like the "back of the pop-up light" intake scoops which are mirrored on both sides. There's enought surface area on the headlight covers to redirect more than enought air into the box, but the trick is to mirror both covers to retain the stock look but be functional.

the problem is on conversions and when headlights are up doesn't seem functional. ill try and get some pics of that the idea is and pics of it fabricated then installed
