The only engine worth a full rebuild is a turbo engine IMO, and if your going to rebuild, you might as well do a good job at it (full rebuild). Others will disagree, but thats my opinion.
1300$USD give or take for the full kit.

I'll disagree with you, BlackPlauge, but only because you need someone to keep you in line
I'd say tear it apart and see how bad it is On my engine, nothing was scratched or too badly worn, so my rebuild only cost about 450-500 in some new apex seals and the soft rings. All of my side-seals and corner seals were still WELL within spec.
Either way, check the FAQs, you don't need too much in the way of special tools, but a good set of calipers, micrometers and such make your life a lot easier, and take a lot of the guesswork out of whether a part is useable or not.

I said that becuase the rebuild kit is similar to that of a jspec S5 longblock engine, so if you have an NA or turbo that needs a rebuild, just get a jspec with a 30 day warranty for compression. If the numbers are bad, return it.
If your in it for the resale, spend the money on the rebuild kit for an engine that everyone wants, that has the highest value, the s5 tII for the second gen.
