Is this worth the effort

I found a 10th ae roller for a decent price for its condition. The owner pulled and sold the engine and trans bc of some harness issues (no fire) and planed for a v8. To make a long story short is it worth tracking down the parts to put this back together and what is a estimated figure to get this back running. i was told all i need is a harness and motor and trans but not counting on that . Ive owned a T2 before so i know a little but never pulled the motor on a fc. So im just lookin for some opinions on if its worth saving.

Yes. The last thing the work needs is another v8, much less in a 10ae. You should be able to find am engine and trans for a grand.... give our take.

Exactly. Dink a few V8 vegetable drinks while installing your rotary.

I would offer you my na 6 port but 10AE is turbo. I would say go for if and source all the right oem parts. 10AEs are only worth having when you have the original equipment. Otherwise its just another modded 7.

$2k for a roller is crazy talk unless that car is extremely clean

I spent 2000$ on my t2 that needed a rebuild, and my girlfriend spent 2300$ on hers and it too needed a rebuild.

I'd spend your $2000 on a running vert and save for a t2 swap. You could also keep saving for a well running t2. Just my opinion.

Personally, I don't buy into the 10th AE mystique but if you do, ask yourself this:

Two identical 7's, one a "regular" car, one the Anniversary model...how much of a premium would you be willing to pay for the badging?

If you chose the 10thAE, how much are you willing to spend to return to stock condition?

If you want, I have a shell, just an 86 base. You have to buy basically everything to get it into a road worthy car. It was going to be a drag car, but life happened, and I'm about to spend the better part of 3 years away. I really don't want it to sit here and rot for that long.

It's a clear title car. But I'll sell it to you for a LOT less than $2k.

$2k is insane for a roller. Then add on a new engine and trans, wiring harness, all the little 10th AE things to get it original.... My god, you'd be $8k deep in that car.

I want a 10th ae bc that was the first and only fc i ever owned, now i have a chance to get another. The roller is clean thats why its so much. I have plans to buy and rebuild or buy a rebuilt engine. Its not about not having the money to do the work. its is it worth it or just buy what someone else did. thats the question. i cant find a fc round ky for under 6k i can put that in to it and have a fresh fc.

Ky people are notorious for pricing things outrageously.

But in all seriousness, if you are that hard up for a 10th AE, don't let us sway you. Do what you want. But $2k for a roller is ridiculous.

Check the VIN beforehand and make sure it's the real deal.

im not trying to argue with u guys but how is 2k crazy. it has the rad, relays, afm , ps pump, breaks ,drive shaft ,coils ect and complete interior, all it needs is a engine trans and harness and a matching wheel set. so what does every one think i should pay for it since 2k is ridiculous.

+1! check the vin. offer the guy like $1000, that's closer to what its really worth...

i would buy a JDM engine+trans, that gets you most of the stuff you need, and if you're lucky it'll even run!

Maybe because it has no engine, transmission, and the engine wiring harness is jacked up. Factor in $2k for engine + rebuild, $300 for trans, $100 for wiring harness, $200 for wheels, getting everything plugged in and ready to go just to find more little things wrong that quickly add up $200.

A roller is a roller. And a roller is $800 tops.

then i have a rebuilt 10th ae for 5k i can sell it for that if i needed to. i sold my old 10th ae for 5500 with 103k on stock motor so, in my eyes thats not bad. the cheapest i can realistically get it for is 1500 and thats a stretch he wanted 3k with wheels.
