To my knowledge, there was a civic that went for 1 million miles without quitting. Don't know if thats a wives tale tho.

P.S. I'm not defending the Civic, just saying what I heard.

I got 83,000 on the original motor.
That's sad.
Carbon lock nessecitated a rebuild- but the engine internals were pristine.
My newly rebuilt engine, which just blew an apex seal, has lasted a year and a half, with 12,000 miles on it.
If this happened to any Honda, everyone would say they are the biggest peices of crap out there.
Too bad about this fatal attraction thing....

"Scott wrote: I would like to tell you about my 1987 Honda Prelude Si. The car now has 783,387 miles on the odometer. I purchased the car new in January, 1987. Unfortuneately, the car was hit hard from behind on Sept 25, 2002 while stopped in traffice and it appears to be a total loss.
The original engine still runs great, the original 5 speed transmission had a "massive internal parts" failure at 718,000 miles but was still full of fluid when removed. The car now has a low miles, used Honda 5 speed in it. The engine and transmission both survived the accident as the car was not in gear when it was hit. I am still commuting 160 miles to work and back each day.

Some of the road trips (from PA) over the past year have been to Florida, North Carolina and Illinois. It is sadly ironic that after so many trips over many years across the country, including California several times, that the totaling accident happened 4 miles from home. The car had been through 49 states - all except Hawaii.

I had hoped to make the 1 million mile mark in another 3.5 years. The picture enclosed is from June 2002 when the car had "only" 763,380 miles on it. "

Alright, looks like I win...well, not really me, but a friend of mine, he has 8 RX-7's, 4 with 250k on them. One was rebuilt at 240k, another at 280k, the 3rd has 260k and is still going...this are all 12A's, but those are also his sons/wifes cars...HIS car, which is an '85 GSL-SE has 388,000 miles on it and still going strong. This just shows you what proper maintence can do.

Michael

BTW- His name is Steve J(don't want to say his whole name on here, but if anyone has any questions, send me a PM and I'll send you his email address)

Girlfriends volvo wagon has 388,000 original everything. So I guess anything is possible. Although, I swear I can hear the car putt "shoot me" out of the exhaust pipe.
