woohoo progress!
Got the old, seized up motor out of my project car, today the jspec goes in. Hopefully I have as good of luck with this jspec as I did with my last one in my old car. The inside scares me a bit, lots of carbon built up in the new motor. I'll hopefully have it going by the end of next weekend.
Is there any way to really clean out carbon before I put the motor in? I'm planning on doing the sea foam, carb cleaner, whatever trick that supposedly cleans carbon out while the engine is running.
Any suggestions on anything would be appreciated. I've got a s4 t2 with some screwy wiring and am going to a s5 t2 block.

Its actually just a water injection trick. Find the vac hose that feeds both housings, rev up the engine, and let it suck a few gallons of water. Obviously, do it while the engine is warmed up. That way, you get a steam cleaning effect.

car is uninstalled, lol
you can put some ATF (automatic tranny fluid) in the sparkplug holes for 24-48 hours and let it sit. be sure to rotate it to every chamber and add some front/rear rotor.
I believe I've heard of MMO and water as alternatives to this method. ATF is the most popular. No idea on whats more effective.
also make sure your oil system is primed and the motor isn't dry as a bone before you spin it over and hurt anything thats not properly lubed. maybe some MMO? im not sure on this part.

How do I prime the oil system? My last jspec i just put a little two stroke in the spark plug holes and rotated it over, primed the fuel system, cranked it over with the egi fuse out, popped the fuse it and it ran great ever since.
