WooHoo!! Guru's Solve this one!

I finally got my car started via the ATF method. car starts on the first time every time now! not bad for my 90 vert with 42k original miles hehe...but one thing still remains...the poor car goes into limp mode.
once the car is warmed up...or i guess reaches a certain temperature, the check engine light comes on and the car goes into limp mode. i turned the car off and did the grounding of the wire in front near battery so i could read the error codes...they went like this:

flash(about 1 complete second) then sort of pause, then
flash(really quick one) then
flash(7 times in a row)
*then the whole sequence repeats

-does anyone know what this damn code is? or has anyone ever experienced it? people told me omp, but i have a good omp, also ecu is in great condition...i am running out of options. i hope someone knows the solution to this one, and can offer me some support.

Fred

my brother says that my code is actually a "05" because you dont count the first and last something something...is he right? if so the problem would be the knock sensor. would that cause my car to have the limp mode symptom? can someone shed some light on reading the code or help me out?

That sounds like code 27, which is the metering oil pump. Do not drive the car until you sort the problem out. Hopefully someone who's experienced this code can help, or you can download the Lubrication System chapter of the 89 FSM from www.fc3s.org for diagnosis info.

Don't underestimate your O2 Sensor not functioning to full capacity due to the ATF Trick. Sure enough It's coated with this fluid, depending how much you put. If you are experiencing bad milege than before, you may want to replace the sensor for safe measure.

how can it be the omp when i swapped it out and i still got the same error? how can it be the ecu when i also swapped it out and got the same error?
also, the check engine light comes on when the car is at a certain temperature...when its warmed up. any ideas? also, if anyone has a "working and in good condition electric omp" i can only afford $75.00 shipped. let me know if you have it. i also have a crapload of TII parts in really good condition i can swap. someone help me...........

Did you swap them out with new ones? I swapped a few used parts out... tested fine, until they were installed on the car. PIA if you ask me.

well that doesn't look like 27... it should be one long, one long, 7 short. the one short in the middle doesn't make sense... however the MOP is the only one that will put it into limp mode. if you changed the MOP and the ECU. time to start checking the wires.

Nah, that sounds like code 17, which suggest 02 sensor voltage output is not up to spec.

try replacing the o2 sensor then come back with more questions....most likely its that, if you've tried everything else.
