Can't help on the tranny. However, for the no start problem, I would jack up the front drivers side of the car. Have someone try and start the engine while you have a meter on the small wire to the starter. You should see 12V there. If this is good, replace the starter. Otherwise, post back and we will help you troubleshoot the starter interlocks.

make sure your battery terminals are clean and are making a good connection.

.. Have you taken the starter off recently ? did it just BAM stop working one day? Check it with voltmeter like mentioned above..

It may be your neutral safety switch. If your car is an automatic it must be in PARK or NEUTRAL to start. When my car used to be an auto the shifter would sometimes not go to the exact position and I would have to "wiggle it a lil bit" to get it started. If it's manual then maybe your clutch switch got disconnected somehow; and when you try and start the car it thinks you haven't pushed in the clutch. Have you tried bump starting it? Try a known good battery out of a freinds car.

my car does some thing like this don't know about the tranny wires but sometimes (more than others) i turn the key and it just clicks and i turn and turn until it starts the starter in my case it's a bad connection to the ground on the battery (has happened on more than one car) try tightening the 2 bolys that hold the actualy wire to the terminal of the ground side of the battery. then clean terminals and if it still clicks just keep trying to turn the key eventualy it will start. if this is your problem, kinda sounds like it is. to find out how many times did you try the key?

Wires/switchs on the manual tranny are for Neutral sensor, 5th gear sensor, and reverse lights.

They would have nothing to do with starting the car.
