Wont start, nee help
Hello,
I know this is probably a question w/many answers, but just wanted to know if anyone could provide some tips. I'm a mechanic at a shop and do not have a great deal of knowledge on rotorary engines.
Got a 90 RX-7 NA with about 81k miles, and the vehicle was towed in because it wouldnt start. I removed all four spark plugs, and the owner had used all "trailing" spark plugs. Just from this, could it have caused any damage? All spark plugs were what seemed to be soaked in fuel.
I replaced all the spark plugs with the correct ones, leading on bottom and trailing on top. The car still does not start, cranks but wont start. I do smell a good amount of fuel when cranking.
Any tips of advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

check compression first and foremost.
below 95 compression and its probably the motor thats going out.
after that, do troubleshooting like you would a piston car..
spark fuel sensors..
edit: using trailing sparkers probably shouldnt harm the motor much.
with the new plugs, try pulling the egi fuse from inside the car, crank for 20s, then replace fuse and crank again. motor could just be flooded.
also try injecting motor oil (heavy weight) into the spark plug holes when you do this. odds are itll start
