Stock cranks are apparently good for ~9,500rpm (designed for 10,000) and 200hp

Formula Atlantic steel cranks good for 12,000+ RPM and 200+ HP.

designed for 10k....

thanks for copy pasting that

but 9.5k is a lot different than 10-11k that "your buddy" is doing.

(my buddies building his 86...)

hence BUILDING as in his motor isnt done yet...yes i admit i loosely mentioned that extra 1k-rpm and yea i understand that at that level of revs taht 1k is a big deal ill fully admit yea i threw the 11k too loosely so I ADMIT TO THAT....but i never said his car is acually revving that high nor did i say it was finished (when it is(hopfully in dec once his family crap is outta da way...) it will be a blast

not trying to beat anyone up just wanna get some stuff strait and settled....

and i do know the rotaryn/a project would be hella pricey?

hmm what about the renessis? (i cannot spell?) how about that motor? its a strong NA revs high stock and everything how much more NA power can be pushed outta that thing?

and how different are the mounts to FC from SE3P?

thanx for ur time!

Yes, it's relative, but I consider it "unstreetable".
I lug my FC at 1,500RPM in 5th gear just for the hell of it, and I'm able to drive like that around town.

yes yes i understand how hard it is and how much $$$ in tuning BUT it can hit 10k the stock crank cant hack anything above it...
Sure, I didn't say it wasn't possible.
I wanna know how much longer the engine is going to last doing stupid **** like that?

hey RETed....that motor came outta a AE111 it was a streetable engine 95(blacktop).........dood a 20v conversion is like a 13bre conversion in the toyoya /sprinter world (now if u meant the toyota atlantic 250hp 20v) then yea its a race engine....

do your homework pal....TONS of people drive 4age 20v and TONS of parts are selling all over? where did u gather this information?
I've been doing this probably before you were born.
I was into AE86's before they were even popular back in *1990*.
I've seen the TRD catalog that has the write-up on this.
I've owned a Zenki 1986 GTS hatchback.
I've looked into all the options...4AGZE, 4AGE 20V, 4AGE built to 12kRPM /w 200hp at the wheels...
I'm telling you the motor isn't streetable and isn't reliable to be called a daily driver.
Have you built one as proof?

Even if the 20v crank is designed for 9.5k, I doubt the rest of the engine is (and I can't confirm the crank thing, but most people I know who want to rev that high or higher have the crank knife-edged and balanced). To rev that high, the pistons and rods have to be balanced to within fractions of a gram of each other, and to actually make power up there, you need some seriously high-lift, high-duration cams... To the point where your idle is going to be 2k rpms because it won't idle any lower....

I'd worry about valve float, and those special TRD bits for the heads make it several grand to prevtn this from happening.
Sure, you could probably run it up there intermittently, but it's not going to handle sustained or make power if the block is stock.

BTW, I clicked that link from club4AG, and they are more lost than we are.
There's some stuff about MS, but the majority of members are totally lost.
It says nothing about revving up to 10K or how to bulletproof the motor to handle revs like that.

Shut the **** up. The grammar in my quoted post frustrates even those with the lowest of educations.

Also, Ted lives in Hawaii where drifting and AE86's are somewhat common (as told to me by my friend). He has probably seen more AE86's in his life then you have even considered to still exist. YOU don't know what the **** you are talking about. Ted does this **** for a living and is good at it. He knows his technical **** and has hands on experience, why give him crap for trying to help you?

Lastly,

PWNT...
