woah crap $350 rad

How much did you guys pay for an aftermarket rad?
$330 in cdn is like 370+ shipping.....$430cdn for an aftermarket rad?
I could be that much closer to a FMIC for that price.

Is $330 average or is there better?

Makes sense that the cost is similar to an intercooler, place a good aluminum rad next to an intercooler and look at them, they're practically the same thing.

My custom Griffin radiator was quite a bit more than that.

well then, I expected closer to 250 for a rad.

I have about $350cdn to spend and I wanted to get a koyo rad and an e-fan, but I guess thats not going to happen.

You don't need the e-fan just as long as your stock fan clutch is working. The stock fan works better than any e-fan on the market.

If you can draw exactly what you want this guy can make it. http://www.alumrad.com/ He's built two custom dual pass rads for me and both were $350 shipped. I've owned a Fluidyne (came second hand with a car) and would never buy one outright after I compared it to the one I had built for my IT car. The Fluidyne had thinner cores and was a single pass. Also the heater hose bard was a bit small, even for new hose. Just my $.02.

Yeah I was just reading up on them and thats the deal I guess. I just wanted more room in the engine bay. I was hoping one out there compared to the stock fan.

I know the shroud is needed but what about the plastic pan underneath? Is it required to cool the car?

You bet it is. Without it most of your cooling air will skip the oil cooler and rad and go right under the car instead.

you're gonna need to find someone that welds aluminum. i havn't got it through the mail yet, but if the dimentions are what they say they are, then it should be a pretty straight foward install because it's brackets will be able to bolt up to the stock location.

only thing else is that lower heater hose. you gotta weld in a small pipe on the bottom. i have no heater so this should be pretty easy for me.

i'm sorry, but i'm just not one of those people that can just buy a product and "drop it in." to me, that's the whole point of "modding" your car.

it's part#

I dont think welding is for me... I might have to go for the "drop in" rad because it sounds easier.

I didnt like having the bottom cover on there because I cant tell if something is going wrong with the car, IE: leaks!

(when I first bought the car I had to drive it around 880kms to get it home and after putting 2 extra quarts in on the way home I found out there was a leak)

that's why you get an ALUMINUM radiator you won't ever have to worry about leakage..

You shouldn't compromise the cooling system's capacity just to make seeing a possible leak a bit easier.

I have a universal summit radiator in mine, 27" x 19" Required some cutting of the sheet metal, but it has substantially more area then anything you'll fit as a "drop in" Cost me 179 dollars shipped from www.summitracing.com They also have brackets, as does www.grannysspeedshop.com that will fit in there with minimal fuss, and NO you do not need to weld aluminum to do it...

Yes, mine is attached to a V8, No, that isn't even slightly relevant to the radiator.
