Angry Wits end...(Fuel Injector Question)

Ok, so about a month ago my check engine light came on and when I checked my codes it was the AFM and OMP. The connector was loose on my AFM and after I tightened it back up, I dumped a bunch of 2-Cycle oil into my gas to be safe as I was about 5 miles from my house, so I drove it home with a bunch of the 2-Cycle oil in my gas. Well, I cleared the codes the next day and none of the codes showed back up. I then drove the car down to the filling station and filled it up with 94 Octane. Well, ever since then my car has a slight flooding condition at the first start of the morning and it usually wants to stall out once when starting. I also have a warm-start problem...say I drive for a while and park my car for 30 minutes. When I go to start it up it doesn't want to idle and I have to rev the engine a bit to keep it from stalling out. I changed my plugs and plug wires last weekend and it didn't help. I've been running fuel injector cleaner to see if it'll help and I also have been driving it a bit harder than usual to see if it helps too. The car boosts fine and the acceleration is the same as it was before. I'd really like to get this fixed as it's just annoying the **** out of me as my car was running so well until that.

It's funny that my shocks and clutch started going out at the same time...I think my car's possessed.

That's what I kinda figured, but that's going to be a PITA as far as I know. Anyone have a rough estimate as to how much this costs to do and how long it takes to get them ripped out?

1 day.

Start the night before.

Remove the intake as a two peice unit.
remove the fuel rails.
remove the injectors.
Bring the injectors and all rubber peices to your NAPA warehouse/store by 9:30am.
(call to make sure they have a machine shop, only the napa warehouses have them I think)
theyll clean and flow them for you (possibly immidiately) and give you new rubber peices.
Pay $20 for each injector.

Replace the injectors.
(if you have them sort them by best to worst flow -the difference is usually not really noticable-, use the 2 best on the primaries)

Re-assemble (with oil on the rubber peices) and double check your fule connections.

Reset the computer (take neg batt. cable off for 30 secs).
Drive.
drive drive.

Drive drive drive drive drive drive .

drive.

wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.......

Thank you! So, now I have another project for my car. I'm ordering my new KYB AGX shocks this week, an ACT clutch next week, new brake pads (the rear pads are vibrating and I am just going to upgrade to EBC greens) and now the fuel injectors.

I'm going to be soooooo broke.

Removing the intake, and getting the injectors out will take you 2-3 hours the first time you do it. Getting the injectors cleaned and balenced will take a week or three depending on where you send them.
And even when you have them cleaned you may have to replace one or more of them because cleaning does not always stop them from leaking.

The last time I serviced my injectors, I just skipped the cleaning and bought 4 remanufactured ones to save time. Not to sound like an add, but Fuel Injection Warehouse ( http://www.fuelparts.com ) has Cobra OEM remanufactured injectors for $40 each. They look and perform just like new. To look at them you would swear they were new.

Having your old injectors cleaned will cost you $25 to $30 each (plus shipping if you do not have a place near you). On top of that they just clean them internally, if they are cruddy and rusty on the outside, they come back cruddy and rusty. The Cobra ones are just like new, inside and out. Also, the Cobra injectors come with a 12 month warrenty, your old cleaned injectors don't. I've had my set for about 8 months now, and they have worked perfectly.

Just a suggestion....

Good Luck,
Douglas
