Without a boost controller, how can i turn up the juice

I dont have a boost controller right now, and im running very low boost. It was set low when the motor was put in, and i want to bump it up alittle.
How can i manually do this from under the hood?
making sure its safe of course.

You'll either need to install a boost controller (even a manual one made out of an aquarium air valve) or put some kind of restriction in the air hose to the wastegate.

How much is low? With your mods you should be seeing over 8psi, anything less than that means something’s wrong.

There’s no underhood boost adjustment, it’s controlled by the tension of the wastegate spring. What to you mean by “set low”? Apart from boost creep due to a restrictive wastegate, a boost controller is the only way to raise boost.

i recently had the motor checked by t&r racing in queens, and another place on long island that speciallizes in rotary. they both said that i have a strong motor, it runs smooth, compression is fine, etc..
but i have trouble getting the boost up past 5 or so.
i dont know if my cats clogged or something, maybe my wastegate is screwed up, i dont know. Btw, my timing is set alittle retarded, but i dont think that would keep the boost so low.

any ideas?

If you have stock 15yo cats this is almost definitely the problem.

with a ported WG and stock cats I doubt it would go over 5. that just means the WG is doing it's jop. just get a manual boost controler. I bought one off ebay for $25.

No, the cats should be taken care of first. A MBC would just force the turbo to work even harder to overcome the clogged cats.

Fix, then modify; don't modify to fix.

$20 says it's your cats. If you've never had them replaced, then ...

the turboXS is a great buy for the money. I would replace your cats, and you WILL see the boost go up. At least you got rid of the pre-cat and put in a DP

fix the cats! you can overwork/overheat the turbo by just cranking up the boost and then you can destroy all sorts of stuff. Like NZ said, fix it and buy a $40 MBC and crank your boost up to 9 or so
