Wiring open 5th and 6th port?

Thumbs up Wiring open 5th and 6th port?

i was told i can do this on my s4 87 sport
i cut my air pump belt and i dont want to have to put on another
anyone know how to do this???

Your better off buying a new belt. You loose your low end when you do this and it makes no difference in the upper end.

did not know you lost any power
how much does this belt run for
do i just go to autozone and say i need a air pump belt??

Since "wiring them open" is what they do above about 3800 rpm anyways, you can't gain anything from it. The engine makes more power below this point with them closed though so if you leave them open full time, you'll lose low end power. The air pump takes so little power to turn that you can't feel if it's there or not anyways. May as well keep your full powerband. Run up to the autoparts store and tell them which belt is was and for which car. They'll look up the size. It'll only cost you a few bucks.

Your Air pump doesnt control your 5th 6th ports at least on S4 cars. If you leave the belt off your air pump too long you'll more than likely end up clogging your cat.

^good point. The air pump only opens them on the '89-'91 cars. It's exhaust backpressure on the earlier ones.

yea screw the airpump on s4's get yourself a dual alt pulley and keep the actuators, unless you change your exhaust (like me) then have electronicaly controled
