Angry Wiring Harness Woes...

Thanks for choosing to read my question!

I just came in from the garage and am perplexed. I have an 1988 base that I took the harness out of when I chose to go to a minimal race setup. For sake of simplicity I will leave this question to contain details of the harness located behing the firewall, in the cockpit.

I cut the harness at each bulb but left the bulb, the harness connector and a few inches to spare for each light and accessory i.e. fuel pump. The idea was I'd rewire only the components I'd need and scalp things like the speaker wires out.

I... then took out each of these leads and labeled it accordingly so I could paint my rollcage and interior properly. Tonight I put the bulbs and trailing leads back in each proper taillight socket and laid out a new harness from an S4 TII in the chassis.

Low and behold the coloured wires from the harness do not match the coloured wires from the leads to each bulb and accessory. WTF? I am downloading the FSM as we speak because my Hayne's doesn't cut the cake. Is there a difference in wire colouring from the Base to the TII? Suggestions please!

as far as the body wires, there is no real difference other than a few pin locations and engine management plugs inside and near the passengers kick panel.
