Wiring Harness

i just bought a 88 TII with no motor and trans. it has the majority of the harness still in it. what is there is the engine short half (batt, trans and starter) and im just missing the rest that runs thro the firewall. i can find only 1 ECU plug. im just wondering if a 86 TII harness is compatable with a S4 ECU, a N333. just curious. heres the pic of the ECU plug i have.

There are some differences... and you probably mean a 1987 model harness compatible with a 1988 ECU since the Turbo was not sold as a 1986 model in the states.

The biggest issue is that the injectors on the 1987 (pre-56000 vins) is that the injectors are low impedance and designed to by used with the factory resistor pack. You can use the harness but you will need to remove and bypass the resistor pack wiring.

There are other minor tweaks and grounding differences but that is the biggest issue.

As a reference the N332 harness (used on most early 87 models) is designed to be used with the N332 injector set up and ECU, while the late 87 and 88 models all used the N333 harness with the N333 ECU.

they didnt make a t2 in 86...atleast not in america.. IIRC, all of the s4 t2 harness were about the same and will interchange without a problem. I think the 88's were a split year and some got different injectors or something, so if at all possible stay away from them.

1987 model year Turbo production started as early as January 1986.
