Wiring Harness

Has anyone ever stripped down the engine wiring harness to only the essential wires needed in the engine bay and "censored" the other lines to keep the ecu happy?

This may not be completely clear as a question but I'm asking if it would help if i cut the wires that go to the vac rac solenoids and tricked the ecu into thinking that they are at an optimal range.

but what exactly are you trying to accomplish?

are you going standalone and want to retain some of the emissions or something?

No, I'm keeping my stock ecu with a rtek 1.5 and upgrading to 1.7 but I don't have the need for the other wires that I do not hook up in the engine bay. I.E. The vac rac solenoids, bac, acv, etc. But I was asking if cutting those wires and somehow keeping the ecu happy on those cut wires (constant or variable resistor).

well in theory that should work...

you might have a little leg work though as far as finding out specific voltages and ranges of volatages sent through each corresponding wire....

but if the wires aren't required for running the R-tek ECU then why not just cut them off....(never ran an R-tek in my car so Im not sure if they are actually needed or not, sorry)

Kewl then, I know the ecu doesnt need them because I don't have any of them hooked up now and everything is running ok....well sorta but that is another problem.

I'll just cut them and clean up the install a little.
