wiring color code list

Anyone compile one? Here is my issue. The guy I bought my TII from was gonna trak it and started to pull wires (correctly and not just cutting them) from harness' that were not necessary for what he needed.

I want to put them back together and its a real PITA having to flip through the FSM and my Haynes manual looking for colors in the schematics for color codes and harness locations.

It would be so much better if I had an alpha list of the wire color codes and what they are for, that way I can pick up the WIRE and then goto the right diagram for it to reassemble it.

Thanks,
Craig

I know color codes, I am an auto tech. I need a list of the wires by color and by circuit. It sucks having to look through every diag to find where the wire in your hand goes by code.

That is found in the FAQ for FC sticky thread, found at the top of this section. There is a whole list of online manuals that list the wiring diagrams.

You should always read the FAQ for FC sticky thread before posting. Many of the commonly asked questions are answered there.

I don't think one exists. Why don't you make one?

Actually, it looks like he has already read the FAQ and is looking at the diagrams. He was just wanting to know if there was a compilation of the stuff for the harness.
To answer the question, I don't think there is. I think you are just gonna have to look through all of the schematics. Those 2 manuals are the only diagrams I've sen.

the FSM colors aren't really very reliable. depending on what year or even what month your car is and stuff they changed up the colors of the wires all the time. my car has several wires that I just completely different colors that what it says they should be in the FSM. so I wouldn't soley rely on that. more of where the wires are going that what colors they are.

welcome the the craptastic world that is FC wiring

have you considered just making a new wiring harness from scratch? that's what I ended up doing.

More than likely you didn't find the correct wire(s).

Every FC I have ever worked on has the same exact wire colors... even the Jspec parts.

when I was trying to wire my CAS, I found 2 different sets of wire colors in 2 different parts of the FSM. that's when I just totally gave up on colors and just started looking at what colors on the other end were plugged into what.

Yeah, while tracking down a CAS error I discovered that the wire colors at the CAS connectors did not match up. Ah, here's the problem I figured. NOT. I popped the wires out of the harness connector, put them in the correct hole to match up with the wire colors in the CAS connector, and tried to start the car. Nothing. Checked the wire colors attached to the ECU at 3G, 3H and 3E, and the wire colors were correct per the FSM. Now what?

Pulled the CAS, set the timing pointer at the leading mark on the pulley, aligned the marks on the CAS and carefully reinstalled it. Nothing. So I gave up and restored the harness connector wires to their original color mis-matched position and the car started right up. Go figure.

The wiring diagrams/schematic do not show the internal wiring of *sub units*, like the fuel pump, cas, radio, logicon, fuel pump and on and on.

They do show the Plug side of the *sub units*, meaning the chassis harness side of the wiring and those colors do not vary from car to car in the same series.

An example would be the fuel pump connector. It shows a BLUE wire feeding the power to the fuel pump on the chassis side of the plug, but does not show the wiring of the pigtail on the pump itself. On that side of the plug the wire color is black/white for the power to the pump.

It's something that should be intuitive once you look at the diagrams once or twice. done

The diags can show for different models (IE Turbo non turbo and convertable for the FC) and can differ. For the most part, they are the same for every type of car since the late 80's but some mfr's still felt and even now, feel the need to change those dependant of the trim level of car and what-not.

This is probably why you seen 2 diff sets of diags for the same item.
