OK. My wipers havent worked for quite some time. I tried fixing them today. I swaped the wiper switch for a better condition one. This helped a little.
It actually fooled me into thinking i fixed it.

THis is the main confusing thing. When the ignition is on(car not running), the wipers work. I can turn them on/off with the wiper switch. No matter what speed i put it on. The wipers always go the same speed though, so kinda wierd?

BUT, when the car is running the wipers cannot be turned on at all. Even wierder.

I tested the plug to the wiper motor and it gets 1/4 of the power when the car is running, copared to ignition on only.

Keep in mind,My car has been an electrical nightmare and has had work done to the wiring. Mainly trying to get it back to factory status, due to retards owning the car before me hacking it all up.

Oh. At one point my wiring was so bad. I had a big short .As soon as i would turn the ignition on. The wipers would go full blast. And the car would turn on. ANyways My uncle fixed everything but the wipers. He said everytime he fixed one thing the next would stop working, so he left it as is.

ANy suggestion?

I have almost the same problem in that mine will turn on slow no matter what speed i have it set to.

But they do when when it is running.

Opps. Attached wrong jpg. Be back.

That is an indication there is a problem with the ignition switch. Go start the motor and try the wipers. Not working? Try jiggling the ignition key a bit and see if they don't start working again.

One speed? ONe of the two relays inside is probably BAD. Repace both or have someone do it for you.

Which wire did you look at? Color please. If the wipers are runing and the engine is running, it could be the voltage drop your seeing as they wiper/run/swipe.

My car is having the same issue. Except my intermedient wipers don't work at any delay setting. And I only have low speed, when I go to high speed they usually don't work at all or sometimes it goes the same speed. Me and a friend looked at my Hayes manual, but the wiring diagrams in there were crap, so I appreciate the updated schematic. I am thinking that the wiper motor itself is bad perhaps?

Yep, thats my problem.

I turn them on low and they work fine, any other speed and nothing. Also, if i turn them off, they stay wherever they are, they don't go down before shutting off, i have to time it just right to get them down.

My car does the exact same thing?!?! Does anyone know what causes this usually? Where are the relays that go to the wiper motor? Any help would be much appreciated!

It is the blue ones. B/w,b/y,b/r

ANd, I tried your , wiggle the key, trick. And it worked. They started working. Your the man, dude. But what does that mean? How do i fix that prob.

And then besides that i have to change the relays for me to have all the speeds?

Either you have too many keys on the ignition swith key ring.........or the ignition switch needs to be changed out. If you can just wiggle it and it keeps working, I'm not sure I'd change the ignition switch out. Sounds like a Pain.

For all speeds you need to change the relays out. Icemark might be able to ID the one that is causing the problem.........but if you go to the trouble to take that switch apart you should change both imho.

Normally, if the key is to ON, you can go to the wiper motor and with a piece of wire, backprobe the blue/white or blue/red wires in the plug (plug attached to motor) and then put the OTHER end of the new wire to a known gnd and the wiper motor runs in one speed or the other. Power is on the pure blue wire. I'm not sure why your seeing low voltage on the BLUE wire. I'd swap out the relays or have someone like Icemark do it for you. It's a not so easy fix in that you have to desolder the relay from the board and NOT cook/displace the *traces* on the board.

Getting another switch out of the wreckyard ain't such a good idea. I bought several before I finally decided to fix the one I had. The others all had some problem.

my wipers have a funny problem. the pulse speed works, as do medium and fast. but i dont have a slow speed which is annoying. i either have to keep doing the pulse thing or have it on fast and listen to the horrible screech when the winscreen is dry.

I'm gonna take a look at the wiper motor and check the wiring.

i have many electrical problems in my car too

An unsealed relay was used, over time condensation gets in there and ruins it.

my car only works on low speed and the auto park feature doesnt work but if i turn it off when they arent on the bottom it will eventually auto park. Is the general consensus here that the wiper motor is done?

To EVERYONE that has one that only works on low and doesn't park: this is a very common issue caused by a bad relay inside the switch. If you read the FAQs, there is a section just on this problem. You can either replace the relay yourself, or send it to www.mazdamark.com to have it done. All of the info should bein the FAQs.

FYI: If you do a search in the FAQ for "wiper" or "wiper problems" you get NO results. But the other web page was quite useful. I plan on getting me some new relays soon!
