there is tons of stuff in the sticky sections, but I do oil changes often. Factory oil injection setups, omp, require you to constantly check engine oil level because some gets injected in the engine over time.
Fuel pulsation dampeners are known to leak and cause fires. Go with either aftermarket fuel pressure reg with built in dampening, or buy a new one from the dealer
Its pretty much like any other engine and car, but you cant simply replace a headgasket when it goes bad. There are tons or rumors and you just gotta learn about them.

- Oil and filter changes every 3000 miles. Use a high quality dino oil. Castrol GTX seems to be a popular choice. 10W-30 in the winter and 20W-50 in summer. Don't use any oil additives
- Fuel for a turbo model RX7 should probably be 91 octane. Use a good quality brand fuel; Shell/Chevron/Texaco. Don't use any gasoline additives
- The rotary engine behaves a lot like a 2 cycle engine and requires oil in the gas to lubricate the internal engine seals. The RX7 is designed to inject a small amount of oil from the crankcase to accomplish this. Many RX7 owners choose to add some 2 cycle oil to the gas at every fill up for insurance. Its called premix
- RX7's are quite allergic to high heat, so make sure the cooling system is functioning at high efficiency. Drain and flush your radiator, fill with 50-50 ethylene glycol antifreeze or use distilled water and E-G antifreeze.
- Replace your thermostat; make sure you use a Mazda one that has the jiggle pin
There are plenty of other things you should be doing. Best to start in reading the posts on this forum. Make sure you read the FAQ's too. Learn how to use the search function. Most of your questions have already been asked and answered

it's safe to say that it's probily reaching around +20 years old. so if your going to be trying to DD it do youself a favor and go through everything. nothing worse than getting stuck on the side of the road because of something stupid that just needed replaced caues it was old/rotten.

I always change my oil and filter every 1000 miles..one reason is you will never get all the old oil out, you leave about 3/4 quart inside the oil cooler, even if you mix any old gassed out oil with new, its pretty much no good for my engine..I would never add old oil to a new oil change..
I also once a week, warm the engine and manual hold the OMP rod, and hold the throotle open till I see nice oil coming up the oil injection lines, and I start to see some smoke, then I return the rod to correct location, allow 5 minutes and then shut her down..keeps it nice and lubed..for next start up.
Turbo engine housings are designed to hold teflon, and release it when temp reaches release point, you must replenish this teflon..

I'm an N/A guy, so the suggestion about gas is based on the TII's being more prone to knocking. If the 87 works without knocking, go for it.
- Over time, if you overly granny drive the car, carbon deposits can build up. Like any 2 cycle engine, rotarys stand up well to high revs and actually thrive on it. Every so often you should red line the engine. Not only is it a hoot, but it helps keep carbon deposits down. For me it's typically 95mph in third gear on the interstate.
