wiper relay replaced.. but problem still not solved...
A few comments and one question from the posts above.
Icemark - the solder sucker at radio shack with the red bulb and white tip - I have that one - does it suck or is it me? Can you recommend one? BTW, the solder wick is ****, good to see I'm not the only one.
And regarding the blurry pictures, use the macro function so it focuses properly, if need be place the object and camera somewhere supported and use the self timer so you get no shaking.

well.. just have the solder gun or solder tip on the solder, melt the solder and angle it down a to about 30-45 degree angle from the pin. depress the bulb and try your best to place its tip right over the pin so it can suck out the solder that's in the pin hole too. works only so much, had to reapply solder on the pins just to melt what is left and tried sucking it again to get rid of more... just do your best not to force out the old relay.
oh okay.. well, just hoping to get back to my car and try it out, this time i know i did it right.. i left my 88 at a friends house thinkin he could help me fix it but i figured i might as well do it rather than to leave it to him. i know so much and there are things that i know so little of... well... thanks Jpk3200
Note that I am assuming that the board is already error-free aside from the relay. I've only redone 2 boards, and both times only had to replace the relay with great results. However, if your board is mucked up like 88rxn/a's board, you are in for fun times.

I would agree with the solder wick/desoldering braid works very well. It is helpful to have some resin/flux on the braid to suck up the solder. I have found that using the braid decreases damage by soaking up heat & solder & not the circuit board traces.
I had Icemark repair mine after I murdered the circuit board many years ago. I would recommend the "have someone qualified do it" approach rather than on the job training for circuit board repair - Although it is "possible" to do it yourself, the result is that you got what you paid for - nothing!!

hey icemark.. i'm given up.. i need your help fixing it. i redid everything and now i dont know what i done wrong.. can i just send it to you? and i'll pay for shipping both ways. how much for the service? well.. get back to me asap

But you shouldn't need to jumper anything if you removed the relay correctly.
so... just use some wires and solder them to the points you selected then? i'll try.. but not now, i'm at work.. wait.. which picture? its an 89 switch...
hey icemark... so which picture do we follow? the colorful one? or the red one? i need to know fast.. i dont think i'll last in a cats and dog rain.
couple qestions Icemark, I'm always trying to learn from more experienced people so i'm curious as to how you figured out which spots u needed to jump? I might also give this a try too so if it doesn't work can i still send it to u?
