wiper relay
wiper relay
I'm one of the many that's plagued with having only "low" wiper settings that work. The high and int. doesn't work.
1990 model....was wondering...would the wiper relay piece from a 1988 work on a 1990? There's one in a local junk yard where I live.
Also....does anyone know of someone on this website that fixes them instead of having to pay a small fortune for a whole new switch. I've seen the instructions on how to soder...but I've never used a sodering gun and I'm afraid of ruining the entire relay switch.
Thanks.

I could fix it for you without to much of a problem. Its quite simple and easy to fix but if you don't have solder skills it could be bad.
Cost $20 for the new relays and it will fix it all right up.

Unfortunately, the guy that was the official repair guru of those switches has passed on. (Icemark)
Currently the only option at the moment is to repair it yourself. The instructions are still up at his website. http://www.mazdamark.com
I'm going to try my hand at a couple and possibly offer up the service. but that's a bit off. I'm still new to the whole crappy FC electronics scene.

Seriously its easy as pie really. If anyone wanted me to do it they can send me the parts and $10 for shipping it back to them and I will do it. I won't even charge for it because it is so simple. I think I spent 45min tops doing it. 40 minutes to undo it all carefully and properly and then 5 to install them.
Well, for those of us with beginner soldering skills, it is also fairly easy to screw it up. See e.g., my mishap here: https://www.rx7club.com/2nd-generation-specific-1986-1992-17/wiper-switch-rebuild-disaster-833548/
Whether you decide to attempt your own fix or to pay someone else to do it, it might be worthwhile to grab the wiper switch from that S5 in your local junkyard to have as a spare. You can use one switch for practice and have the second one if you mess up the first. Or if you find it was an easy fix, rebuild the second one and sell it to someone who needs it. I wouldn't buy the junkyard one expecting it to work any better than yours though.
