i have this nasty wiper problem and some storms have been pounding San Diego so I have to get this solved asap.

i've gone through 3 switches and 1 remanufactured one from Icemark. I really don't think the problem is with the switch as when I tested it tonight, it worked as it should...mist, intermittant, slow, fast all work great.

here's the problem. when i first plugged the switch in, it worked great. i went inside the house to grab my dog to goto the park. as soon as i start the car up, not more than 20min later, the wipers don't work at all...hazards are fine, but no wipers. consequently, the logicon doesn't work either when the wiper doesn't work.

i drive to the park with my windows fogged which was utterly dangerous but the windows started defogging as i was driving. i fidgeted around with the wiper switch while driving to no avail and accidentally left it on the "I" position. as soon as i shut the car down, the wipers started working again suddenly...all the positions work.

i spent about 20-30min in the park and came back. the wipers work beautifully. i head to the bookstore and leave the car for about 5 min, come back, and once again, the wipers work beautifully.

i have no idea what the problem is...i don't think it's a bad wiper motor as that wouldn't explain why the logicon doesn't work when the wipers don't work...the fuse is good as well...

any ideas? i wake up every morning hoping it's not raining/misting/foggy

bad ignition switch, or loose connectors on the fuse box

 

My car did the same thing. My a/c wouldn't come on unless I turned the key back only a few mm till it turned on. Sounds like a bad ignition like icemark said.
