Will you keep your 7 for life?
The FD forum has this topic so I was curious to think what FC owners thought.
Will you keep your RX-7 for life?
Personally, I can't see myself without an RX-7. I've wanted one since I was in 5th grade. I got a job when I was 14 and saved my money so I could buy one when I turned 16. I started looking when I was 15 just so I know I wouldn't miss my chance at having one as my first car. Right now my car is in the shop getting a transmission rebuild and I sit at home, waiting for it to be done. We are an advantaged few. The RX-7 puts a smile on my face every time I climb into the drivers seat. Every time I see a sign indicating a curve I loosen my fingers and say, "you know you want it". Every time I look into my driveway and see it sitting there, I can't help but feel privilaged. The few people in this world that have experienced this know that there's nothing like it anywhere else. How could there be? I will definately keep my FC for life. I actually considered having my ashes spread over the Utah Salt flats from my FC when I do go. Of course, that was only a thought. Hopefully, I've got a long time before my FC and I depart. Even when I'm old and feeble, I can't see letting this car go. Just sitting still it looks like its waiting for someone to get in and redline it.
The rotary engine scream is more extatic than anything else in the world. Mixed with the pull of the car and the brace of the seats, the smooth but rigid shift following the peaking revs. It's an inexplicible feeling that I can't see ever letting go of. My FC has only been with me for a short while, but I feel like I've never existed without it. Its like an old friend that I've known since I was born (conveniently, the same year my car was manufactured ). This car, has treated me well. It makes life a little bit more worth living. Every day, when something goes wrong, the FC can fix all of it. There's nothing that that hunk of steel can't do, and it won't leave my possesion until I am dead.
How about the rest of you? Can you live without the rotary ecstacy?

the fc is deffinelty a amazing car. A few friends have driven my car and were literally in shock how well it handled. (koni adjustable front shocks and tokiko rears, eibach springs,) partly the suspension upgrade but the car itself is incredible. It has this look about it that almost everyone likes.
im just waiting for summer so i can bring her out again.

I don't know about always having an FC, hopefully this one lasts that long, but I'll probably always have some shade of RX-7, be it an SA, FB, FC or FD.
Hell, I'm only on my third already.

I'm gonna try to hold on to my FC for as long as possible, partly why I won't turbocharge it. But's only the stepping stone to my FD someday. Probably get one right as soon as I get out of college (only 3more years left!!). Unless mazda pops out a gen4 rx7 in which case I'll sell one of my kiddies for.

I will keep mine for as long as possible. Its starting to fall apart a little at a time, but hopefully a restoration is in the future.
I think about driving it all the time, its such a drivers car. I cant stop looking at it as I walk away from it, and I love the fact that its cult car. Others just dont appreciate the 7 liek we do. And that makes it even more special for me - to know its all mine (and all yours' guys' too)

Yea I was thinking that when I have the money I will buy an FD. The FC is awesome and all but the only reason I don't have an FD is because I can't afford one. One of these days though I will own an FD, but not for a while. Till then Im gonna have an FC!!!

If I ever have enough money to keep it, i'll probably own it as a track/project car later on once I get out of college. Until then it will probably be my daily driver until I get a real job, where I can have the FC as my track car, FD as sort of half project, half weekend car, and maybe some sort of beater car or luxury extra car if I have the $$.

Unless my FC is the difference between getting an RX-8 and not getting an RX-8, I'll probably keep it as long as I can. If I had an RX-8 daily driver, I'd probably want to make my FC my track bitch. =)

i dont know. ive never completely understood the attitude behind permenetly garaging a car like the rx7. sure they are amazing machines worth presserving and maintaining, but its such a drivers car: it would be like owning a Van Gough but keeping it stuffed in your basement instead of on display if you didnt go out and drive your rx7. sure pristine fcs are becoming fewer and fewer everyday but, is just looking at the car parked even half as enjoyable as taking it out and driving like it was meant to be?
i like to think ill have my 7 forever. (god willing i dont wreck it or something like that) its part of my mental justification for modding it to my own tastes . but in reality ill probobly own other cars. i torn on the idea of turning it into a "track bitch" latter on because it is still in relly good condition. the day i curse the rotary i will get rid of it, but i dont think that day will ever come.

I am keeping my fc for life. I want 500hp out of it, off the bottle. I eventually want an FD, then, dont hate me, a Supra. I plan on having all 3 cars in the garage, then i can die happy.

I would be all over getting a Mr. Fusion for my FC, no more expensive gas, although I dunno if you'd still have to throw 2 stoke oil in with the garbage to pre-mix .
I'd prolly keep my FC as a track car, but if Mazda made a 4th gen RX-7, I'd be sellin my blood every week to get one!

I don't know if I'll actually have my FC forever, but as long as I can buy parts to repair them, I'll always have some shade of RX car...whether its FC, FD, or an RX-8.
I want to keep my FC for at least 10 years...but when I have kids, I may go for an RX-8 (backseats!) if I can pick up a used one fairly cheap by then.
Either that or I'll just have a 4 door beater and an FC for life.

I suppose I probably will, though I'm sure it'll go through a lot of changes. I'm looking at a FULL paint strip and respray with some minor body mods once I get the L98 in and running properly. I'm also going to strip the undercoating, clean the floorpan and get it resprayed as well, sometime before next winter- Can't sell the dang thing, I'd lose my ****!

While I'm sure I will get other cars, I can't imagine being without my FC. Its just a bare-bones, no-frills sports car that doesn't try to be posh or easy to drive. Its a wonderful drivers car. If I'm in a bad mood, all I have to do is just sit down in my wonderful racing bucket and fire up the engine. It will be with me as long as I can drive.
