Will you blow your engine if you tach your rpms out on low fuel ?
Ok i have a video on youtube of me redlining to 7500rpm and i had about an 1/8 tank of gas. This guy makes a point that you can blow the engine running it low on gas and driving hard on it because the fuel pump cant pick up all the necessary fuel since its low and will cause u to run lean and blow the engine.
heres what he said and i quote "either your gas gauge is broke or your low on gas and i wouldn't run it like that on low fuel. You'd hate to knock nice n hard and take out an Apex seal , Its called fuel starvation jackass go on rx7club and look it up. I owned an FD i know all about these cars when your low on fuel sometimes your fuel pump doesn't pick up the fuel you need and then it could lean out so Yes you could blow your engine!!!!!!! Dumbass "
my response - "
Yeah well it was at an 1/8 tank and im not really worried about blowing up the engine its rebuilt and all.
If my car was turbo id prolly be more worried about starving the engine for fuel but the non turbo rotary engines. "
another response from me " oh and more likely the car will just die when it runs out of fuel than blow up, but i plan on putting a post on rx7club and telling you what they say "

FD's had a fuel pickup problem cause they cornered so ******* hard. Especially at low levels of fuel. I'm sure he blew his like that. Tell me if your engine is compressing gas and air at 7500 rpms and then theres no gas to mix and compress with, or very little? Its the same thing as leaning it out really badly....
