Will this work? Headlight switch replacement

My headlight switch went bad on my 87. Would a headlight switch from a 89 RX-7 work in my 87? The part numbers are different, but I have looked at the both switches wiring diagram and they appear to be the same.

thanks for any feedback.

Yep, they're interchangeable. The '89-91 version just has SLIGHTLY different looking icons on it - big whoop.

this is sorta off-topic, but what does a failing unit do? I am having a problem with my instrument cluster lighting working. All my other lights work fine though, well, I haven't got a ticket at least
