Will a Vacum leak eat your gas like crazy??

 

won't affect your mileage that much unless it is a huge leak which would be easily noticeable, your TPS however could easily affect your mileage quite a bit though.

if it's messed up you replace it. to adjust it depends on your application, for most FCs you warm the engine then with the key on engine off backprobe the green wire at the connector and adjust the sensor to read 1.0volt.

 

I have found that driving an RX-7 eats your gas like crazy. My vette got better gas MPG when I had it.

 

when my tps wasn't connected it didn't affect my gas mileage that much
same thing with the o2 didn't change my gas mileage that much but then again I do quite a bit of hwy driving so I donno

 

Hmmm that's kinda strange. Maybe your TPS was way out of spec to begin with? And the o2 sensor only has an effect on gas mileage when the car is in closed loop mode (cruising speeds/highway).

 

Rex's are suprisingly thirsty. I had now clue until after I bought mine. 14-16 mpg. Maybe it will be better on a fresh motor

 

haha, thats bad. unless youre putting out some serious numbers and driving mostly city. even big turbo guys get great mileage at highway cruise (if tuned well). i get ~20mpg in my 91n/a. wayne88n/a gets around mid to high 20s in his n/a. if you're getting 14-16, you have problems. 16 gallons should get you around 330 miles if you have an n/a; unless you're a lead foot of course.

 

that's for the narrow range side of the tps. the s4 is narrow range, so it should be 1v, but the s5's wide range should be at about .8v, 1v for narrow side.

these are S5 specs

narrow range:
Ign switch on (idle position): ~1v
Ign switch on (full throttle): ~5v
Idle: ~1v

full range:
Ign switch on (idle position): ~.8v
Ign switch on (full throttle): ~4.3v
Idle: ~.8v

the full range isnt adjustable. the narrow range adjusts with the screw that connects to a armature (for lack of a better word) which touches the tps' narrow range sensor.
he said green wire at the connector. that must be a signal wire. again though, it depends whether its S4 or S5. also, its best to test at the ecu for more accurate numbers.

 

I tried to understand it in the FSM.......then I had to retun it to Silkworm cuz he blew his engine at Sears, i believe. BUT i did not understand the S5 TPS part...Let me search and see what i can find.

how can i fix mine? S5 TII.....i think mine is fuxored up.........crappy idle, always wants to turn off.
