will the shift kever from an s4 (84-88) work in an s5 (89-92)
will the shift kever from an s4 (84-88) work in an s5 (89-92)
reason im asking is I have access to a parts car and I like the feel of the s4 shift **** and I know the s4 shifter had different thread pitch. I also want to buy the mazdatrix short shifter for my s5 but I have the s4 ****.
I'm pretty sure all short shifters are going to be s5 thread pitch since it is way more common of a thread pitch for aftermarket shift *****.
S4 shift lever will work, but when you upgrade to a short shifter you'll have to get another ****, unless you can find one with the less desirable s4 thread pitch.

I got a C's shifter with a S4 thread pattern.
This is my second one.
the First one I had milled to fit s5 sized shift *****.
S4 Shifter: M12 x 1.5
S5 Shifter: M10 x 1.25

It is a stupid mistake as this info is in the stickies and FAQ, every noob should read this first...
If all this kind of false information should not be posted, i think postcount drops atleast 30% making it easier to find the right info with a few clicks.
