My MAF sensor is disconnected as the ignition will not fire with it connected; However, it does not appear as though I am getting gas through the injectors now. I was just wondering if the two are related in the ecu for starting power.

1987 Rx7... not run in 5 years.... after buying for $5 and owning for a week and replacing a fuel pump and cleaning the tank I got it to hit 1k rpm off of ether..... Yeah... the car still needs help. I am working on cleaning out the intake manifold now as I took it off tonight. If you would like to donate knowledge, hints please reply. If you would like to donate cash money, send a donation . BTW.. I have cleaned the spark plugs and tried to do so with the injectors.

 

Insofar as the AFM's inputs are used (with other inputs) to schedule fuel, yes...

For startup, though, hmm, I think the ECU would handle that...

Right, the ecu figures out the best muxture of the fuel and the air, but to add more detail I'm talking about just getting starting gas from the injectors with the maf disconnected. I would assume that while the ecu wouldnt be making a perfect mixture that it would still allow the car to start.

 

They inject with or without the elect plug on the afm. Check for yourself. PUll the small white plugs off the lead and trail coil assy's. Turn the key to ON. Spin the cas's drive gear with your fingers. The injectors will click. You have to have a spare cas or pull your cas to do that. No cranking of the engine involved.
