will i fail emmission

hey guys i dont post as much as i read but... i have a 87 s4 with only 123000 miles. its that time of the year and it will go through its first emission with me. i live in va btw. well my question is, will i fail emission if i got a new cat with out the tube that goes to it for that extra air. the new cat from napa did not have this and i didnt notice till the day i went to minekee to get it installed. i didnt even know the original cat had one. the only reason i got it changed was because i thougth maby it could help me pass. im also reading about the alcohol and the variable resistor adjustment. but im mainly concerned about the tube that goes to the cat and if it effects my chances of passing. thanks in advance. sorry if its hard to understand.

that Tube is to activate your auxilary Ports(5th/6th ports)..so really it won't affect the Emission test,BUt it will affect your Engine performance.it won't have as much Low end power. In a Way you should have Double checked the Part that you were Going to Install. If it passes, you can Look into using the Air Pump to activate your 5/6th ports(search is Handy here!)..Or just wire them open and you will have the "power" up top...alot of people Use that Tube to Direct Air From the Pump to the Cat to Dillute the Exhaust. With that Being "out of the question" for You now,you are Gambling on the engine being one in Good Operating Condition and Tuned properly..anyhow..that is my Look at it..Good luck.

without that tube putting air in the cat its gonna be no good by the time you drive to the emissions place.

A CAT cannot be modified in any way. You need to get the Cat that is made for the car.
