As far as I know the cabins are exactly the same on the N/A and Turbo'd 7's.

Only difference I can think of is if the car is 2+2.

Some FC's have rear seats instead of holding bins.

mini-writeup: Take everything out, install carpet, put everything back in.

Look how easy that was!

It actually kind of sucks removing/installing the carpet... I would just use a blade and 'cut' the carpet as high up under the dash as possible instead of trying to remove the dash etc. (which I think you have to do to *really* get the carpet out in one piece).

One thing to note, the s5 carpet is slightly different than the s4.

^^^ You sir, are correct... the carpet runs under the center part of the dash, and to get that out, you must remove the ENTIRE dash.............

old YOD said "Screw that" shampooed his carpets and bought nice floor mats!!!!!!!

BUT, If i get a wild hair up my ***, i would like to switch over to a black carpet set someday...

Isn't the dash backing made of that plastic that gets super hard and brittle over the years?

I wonder how many clips/mounts will be destroyed during the job - leaving you will a dash that is only partially secured and making all kinds of noise as you roll down the road.

Anyone know if it is plastic?

ROFL!

I did the black s5 swap a while back and it was pretty basic and self-explanatory. But yeah, there are weird 'holes' in unnecessary places.

I think it's due to the s5 'mouse-belts' and perhaps the rear-carpet that I installed was from an s5 with a rear-hatch cover.

Well I have that wild hair...Yes the Back of the dash is made of plastic, but as stated earlier i will just either cut or wedge. I removed the carpet today to give me an Idea of how hard slash easy it would be....took me a total of 30 min. to remove. I didnt cut anything nor have to remove the dash. After you remove the center console and the surrounding tray the carpet slides right out. So it shouldnt be that bad to put it back in

Actually, if you take your time, its not that hard to get the dash out, but... theres a LOT of wires and crap that has to come off.... its just a time consuming PITA...

The HARDEST thing to get off without busting it up is the friggin gauge surround..

last time i took a dash out... I took the Sterring wheel out FIRST, before i did ANYTHING else.. that helped a LOT.,

NOW THEN.... you CAN just cut the carpet down the middle from the front untill you get to the shifter, remove the center console in cut the carpet so that you just shove about two inches of it up under the stereo console... nobodys going to see it, but it may sag down over time..

You do not have to remove the dash to R&R the carpet. But by all means go ahead and do it. After you have removed and replaced a couple of dashes, you will discover how to get around the dash without removing it.

After owning 15 7's, from S2-S4's, and parting out half of them, replacing the carpet in a few, there is a way around it without taking the dash out. You are better off leaving the dash in. Taking it out breaks more of those lovely brittle plastic parts, and you can rarely get the dash back in without developing new squeaks.

There is a U-shaped bracket, under the radio, that holds the lower center of the dash to the floor. Removing that and the shifter, will save you from removing the dash. It's a fight to get the bracket in and out and the carpet in between the dash and tranny tunnel, but it's do-able.

I have yet to find a supplier for the 2+2 configuration for the carpet. Just order the passenger area carpet for the coupe and 3 extra yards of matching carpet. For the coupe, I would order about 3 yards also, then you can do the hatch and bin area, the spare tire cover and the kicks on the door panels.

I have bought carpet from 1AAutomotive.com and my local auto upholstry shop. There are other internet suppliers out there, avoid VB. Buying local you can pick what you need, matching color and oz. wt. of the pile.
