will a FD exhaust mani fit a TII?

Yo

Im thinking about upgrading my turbo and exhaust system. I dont like the stock manifold, it doesnt seem like it flows too well... anyway, i want to know if a FD manifold will fit. I probably will not use a stock FD manifold, but an aftermarket single turbo one. so basically, are the holes/bolt pattern the same? and will the outlet pipe fit? I will have custom piping, so thats no concern. I also have no emissions, so none of that **** will be in the way.

anybody know?

thanks,
Pat

The FD has twin turbos so I think it is way different than the FC manifold. IF your talking about something like a TO4 manifold then I think they bolt up but there are clearance issues with the LIM on the FC. But that should not be a problem since there are TO4 manifolds for FCs specifically.

I think all 13B housings have the same studs with exception of the MFR(mazda factory race) housings. I mean people put TII housings into N/a's and vice versa so I think all the studs are the same.

I have read time and time again here that manifold's made for the FD fit fc's only needing a spacer to allow it to clear the LIM.

Bolts holes lines up... but you must use a spacer.... usually a big one.

It will depend on the manifold but one that I had in my posession was going to require at least a full inch spacer to work... Not a good idea IMO.

so the factory FD complete with twins will fit, provided a spacer is used? this sounds interesting...

May sound interesting to you, but sounds like a bunch of work for little gain to me. Yeah, you could make them bolt up, but the huge vacuum mess and whatnot of the sequentials would be a serious headache I think. You could convert them to non-sequential, but then what's the point of bolting on twins...

Anything can be done and each person will have their reasons for doing or not doing it. I guess what you need to ask yourself is will the benefits outweigh the cost/effort? IMO, no, but there are other schools of thought.

there is a hundred threads on using the FD turbos on the FC, and while it is a noticeable performance gain, it is also generally considered to be more trouble than it's worth.

I mean really, why do you see a lot of FD guys going single turbo? Because they wanna be as cool as us FCs!
