WILL IT EVER END?! The story of a boy and his engine swap

i own a 1988 rx7 TII, i got it broken, and the guy before me had taken about half of it apart, he also had an engine for it, he was gonna do the 89 jspec swap, its a longblock

everything has been going fine, i finally got the engine back in, after much delay, and i realized that my old downpipe wasnt going to fit..i need to have it done by the 11th of august so that i can go on vacation, i find one to buy, but cannot get paypal to work, and the guy doesnt trust me enough to send it until he gets money (i can understand) so i say F it and i got to exhaust shop, and he says that he can weld flanges on a pipe that is bent to the right shape and put an 02 sensor bung in it...cool. i was just connecting the stuff for the wiring harness today and was about to put on my UIM and throttle body, gilfriend was taking nuts off of the LIM studs and she dropped one into the intake...AAAAAAAAAA, that isnt the end of it either, long grabber things cannot get it, and the magnet on a stick doesnt work either, so i am going to have to take that off, and it sux with the eingine it in it (any tips?) i took off the ACV and then remembered i had to go get my downpipe

the guy didnt have the matching flanges, and said that it would take 4 days to get them, and he couldnt use mind because they were cast iron and he couldnt weld that to a different material, (i knew that but didnt think of it)

just had to let off some steam, did you guys have this much trouble with your first project car/rx?

Wow that sucks to drop a but into the intake manifolds. I have heard horror stories about that. Not sure how you would get it out other than rebuilding it.

My car is broken alot, but I bought it when everything on it was getting old, so I had to pretty much replace aloooooot. It now has 170k miles or so on it, and the motor needs a rebuild, but I'm going to wait on that and put a 2.5 liter twin turbo 1jz in instead..

its a project car at the momment, I have all the parts in my sig sitting inside the car at the momment waiting to be installed.

Yup, I said F the 13BT to, and now, I'm in the proces of putting a 7MGTE in my TII.

As for dropping the nut in the intake, well one you should never let anyone other than yourself work on your car!!! And two, you better hope that the intake port on that runner was closed because if it's not, I don't know what your going to do.

Take the intake off and stick the magnet in there.

A vacume won't pick up a nut, especially from more than a couple inches away.

Depending on what position the rotor is in, you may be able to turn the engine VERY slowly, and get it out once you get the LIM off.

yes, s4 to s5 swaps are a bitch, mines still in progress, the garage my stuff was in got blown away by a tornado, i lost my s5 intake so i tried to use the s4 intake, doesnt work to well, the car caught on fire and burned the wire harness, so i replaced that along with almost everything else under there, still looking for an s5 intake, the oil metering pump is such a pain in the ***, theres soo much trouble in these swaps its driving me insane, but soon, i will have my car running again

i pulled the engine back out, then i got a shitload of tickets, so i ran out of money for a while, im just getting back at it, i am going to get the seal kit from rotaryaviation, and then begin to rebuild, and i am bound and determined to make this car a Twin turbo...so we'll just see what god, and time allows.
ill try and keep you posted, but right now i have been workine 40hrs a week, taking 12 college credits, and 1/2 days at high school, so my life has been hectic...on a side note, i am no longer dating that girl.
