will code 17 put engine into limp mode

i got a S5 n/a that is throwing code 17 (feedback system) and my car is running like crap and has no power, i think it may be in limp mode but i am not sure if code 17 will do that.

also how do i fix the code, i put a bosch replacement sensor in and i had to splice into the wire. i crimped it and then soldered it. i have heard the the wire is sheilded but it didnt look as though that was the case

please help, i need my car to run right
thanks

A feedback loop error will not put the car into a limp home mode. Keep in mind, if the car is running really poorly, it will throw off the mixture enough to trigger a feedback code and an O2 sensor code. You can drive around just fine with the O2 sensor unplugged, it will just run richer than it should. If the car is running VERY poorly, as in barely running, will only do 40mph with a tailwind, there is definetely another problem.

Read this post. It is how you fix the error.

My posts is how I fixed the problem.

I used to have this same problem with my n/a S5 when I used a Bosch O2 sensor. I'd check and clean the O2 sensor connections and reset the computer, and a couple of later the problem would reappear. I cahnged my O2 sensor with another Bosch sensor, and the same problem reappeared. I deceided to repalce my Bosch O2 sensor with NGK O2 sensor, and I've never had the Code 17 probem again.

I would say try my method first. It will save you money on buying the sensor. You might not need one.
