will clearcoat restore lost shine?

Gonna try this again.

3/4 of my car is shiny, 1/4 is not. Should I:

A. Wax my car and ignore it
B. Clearcoat the 1/4 that is dull.
C. Clearcoat the whole car.
D. Forget about it. Nothing short of a new paint job will fix it.

I think you'll find that White is not a Clearcoat from the factory.

1A - Satin Gold Metallic Clearcoat
3A - Royal Maroon Metallic Clearcoat
5A - Sapphire Blue Metallic Clearcoat
J5 - Arctic Silver Metallic Clearcoat
K3 - Sunbeam Silver Metallic Clearcoat
K8 - Tornado Silver Metallic Clearcoat
PZ - Brilliant Black Clearcoat
RH - Sunrise Red
V9 - Custom Silver Metallic Clearcoat
WY - Nobel White

1. Try buffing. Not waxing, buffing - high speed polisher with a wool or rough cut foam pad.....then a fine foam pad and polish, then wax.

2. If that doesn't shine it up - then you need paint.

Last owner had a repaint. I can see a spot or two where the clearcoat is peeling.
Paintscratch.com also lists the name as "Noble White" (not "Nobel White Clearcoat") yet they say "this paint requires a clearcoat" when you try to order it.

I imagine I have to find a buffing place to buff my paint, or I might burn it myself?

you wont burn it if youre not using a high torque rotary polisher. something like the porter cable 7424 will do. go check out www.autopia.org and click LEARN and you can ask in the forum if you have any questions. this is an easy fix... unless you have clearcoat failure.

Thanks. I'll check it out. So I can just apply clearcoat to the dull portion before buffing? I don't think it has any. In fact, on top - where I see it peeling - I'm pretty sure there isn't any on the other side of the peeling clearcoat. There's another area where it's also dull but with no visibile peeling on the border.
